Fun Gus & The Shrooms is an Austin area based four piece variety cover band that plays a wide range of popular rock and alt rock music from the 80s through the 2000s. All members are originally from Corpus Christi, TX, born in the same year, and graduated high school in Corpus Christi in the same year. Coincidence or fate? The Shrooms now sprout in Central Texas! You can find the band at social venues like breweries, biergartens, wine bars, restaurants, and traditional bars as well as local events and festivals all around the Austin area. Their live performances are uniquely fun, energetic and always get the crowd singing along!
Fun Gus and the Shrooms are the Shii-take! These guys bring great energy, amazing vocals and killer guitar play every time we have them perform. With a huge variety of songs from classic rock to alternative, you'll love these Fungis!
Great band and a great group of guys!
We had so much fun hanging out at Willard's Brewery on Saturday night. These guys really played some of our favorite tunes. Can't wait to see them again.
This fun dad trio of talented strummers, already full-time professionals in their respective fields, who, by fate and synchronicity, came together tonight to perform a tight repertoire of popular songs from the 80s and 90s. I was amazed at how seamlessly they transitioned synth-heavy hits into guitar-only tunes, as their singing chops made it clear that no melody or bass rhythm would be spared amongst the layering to provide each song its due respect. Cy Curnin, lead singer of The Fixx, would be astounded at how marvelously "One Thing Leads to Another" had been faithfully executed. But, every single cover from the set list was marvelously performed. I was truly glad I stayed, talking to each gracious member of the band.
The Whiskey Girls are big fans of Fun Gus & The Shrooms. As their name suggests, they are FUN, and we love singing along with them to classic rock covers and our personal favorite - 90s music! They are a refreshing addition to our weekend lineups and we look forward to having them on our stage more and more in 2023!
